Pandemic flu claims one more life in Moldova

The Ministry of Health of Moldova reported the fourth death from pandemic A (H1N1) influenza. A woman died in hospital on November 10 after being in a serious condition for several days, Info-Prim Neo reports. The 53-year-old woman was admitted to the intensive therapy section of the Ceadar-Lunga district hospital on November 6. She was diagnosed with pandemic flu, bilateral pneumonia, pleuresy, pulmonary edema and cardiopulmonary insufficiency. After examined by teams of specialists through the Aviasan service, she was being administered antiviral treatment. The Ministry of Health has announced that two more persons diagnosed with pandemic flu, including a pregnant woman, are in a serious condition in the intensive therapy section of the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba" and the National Clinical Hospital. The persons who have been in contact with the patients are under the supervision of doctors. On November 10, the number of cases of pandemic flu confirmed in Moldova rose to 384. The pandemic flu situation will be examined at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Vlad Filat on November 11. District heads and senior doctors of Preventive Medicine Centers will participate in the meeting. Four persons have died from pandemic flu in Moldova so far. They include three men aged 35, 46 and, respectively, 50 and a 53-year-old woman.
