The Palanca, Tudora and Otaci state border crossing points deal with the heaviest traffic of Ukrainians who intend to enter the Republic of Moldova.

At the border crossing point, the refugees are awaited by civilian volunteers who offer them free transport to Chisinau, cellphone SIM cards and even accommodation.

The citizens who cross the border and who ask for asylum are offered assistance at the tents put up at the Palanca hotspot center.

The refugees can stay there for up to 72 hours and are later transferred to improvised accommodation centers in Chisinau if they do not have where to go.

The persons who ask for asylum are referred to the accommodation center for asylum seekers in Chisinau. As many as 543 applications for asylum have been registered by now.

After the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița went to the Palanca border crossing point to see how the migration flow is managed.

The Ukrainian citizens can enter the Republic of Moldova with internal IDs and do not need to present a COVID-19 certificate. The minors are admitted with birth certificates, internal identity cards or passports.

Those who enter Moldova say they mostly go to relatives or friends or they will look for accommodation themselves.

Most of these citizens travel by personal cars. Those who do not have units of transport can use bus routes provided for them. Civilians also offer free transport to them.
