“We saw people, who are Communist products 100%,” said Moldova Noastra Alliance's (AMN) spokesman Victor Osipov about the attackers, who threw paint at a team of young AMN activists. The incident occurred on Friday, March 13, as they were protesting in front of the Interior Ministry against involving policemen into the election campaign.
On Saturday, March 14, the AMN protesters offered more details about the incident, at a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo. Sergiu Baltag, the leader of the AMN youth organization, has explained that the AMN members did not manage to catch the aggressors to hand them to the police, since they ran away in a car immediately after throwing bottles of green paint at the protesters. The activists could not immediately see the attackers since the latter came from behind. “They are cowards led by a coward,” Victor Osipov said.
The young members of the Moldova Noastra Alliance say they recognized some of the attackers, since they had had altercations with them at a protest staged on March 3 in front of the government. Neither then, nor yesterday did the police intervene to protect the public order, what makes the AMN representatives see the police's complicity with the aggressors. The Interior Ministry has made no statements as to this case.
“We're alarmed that our Red-Orange opponents become more and more extremist in their undertakings,” said Sergiu Baltag, meaning the Communists and the Christian-Democrats. “It's a hit from behind from the Communists. If the ones having committed the attack expected to scare the young AMN members, it only made them more determined. The ones believing they can intimidate the AMN youth hope in vain,” said Victor Osipov.
The Moldova Noastra Alliance submitted 4 complaints to the police and the prosecutor's office demanding to probe the incident. “The law-enforcement bodies could easily identify the aggressors, but the AMN does not expect the Interior Ministry to be interested in this regard, since it may discover Communist provokers,” Osipov said.
He has stated the AMN has information about provocations of this kind being prepared against AMN leader Serafim Uerecheanu, “and then not paint but acid will be used.”
On Sunday, March 15, at 11.00 a.m., the AMN will stage an event on the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, that the party's spokesman called “the funerals of the Communists.”
