The Democratic Action Party (PAD) has launched its campaign for the November 30 parliamentary elections with the slogan “Moldova for the people”. The party’s leader Mihai Godea said the major goal of the PAD is to restore the people’s confidence in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Mihai Godea noted that since 2011, when the PAD was created, they have shown that an alternative to the current ruling class exists. “The fact that we managed to remain firm on positions and to show that things can be different is the result of our efforts. I thank my colleagues working at local level who didn’t lose their integrity despite the pressure exerted on them. Together we continued to struggle for freedom,” he said.

He also said that the parties of the current ruling coalition are corrupt, society is divided, the state institutions are not trusted by the people, and the problems remained the same as 20 years ago. “The situation must be changed. Moldova needs an alternative. The main pillars of the PAD’s platform will make Moldova a prosperous European country of which the people will be proud. The main objective is to restore the people’s confidence in our state. We will join our efforts and will determinedly promote the democratic principles,” stated the politician.

The party pleads for equitable social protection and decent living standards. Mihai Godea said the people must choose the head of state directly; the party funding system should be reformed, while the country’s sovereignty must be strengthened. The European integration is the major pillar of the country. Russia should withdraw its troops from Transnistria so that the conflict could be resolved. The PAD also supports the protection of the cultural heritage and the development of science.

MP Mihai Godea tops the PAD’s list of candidates, being followed by Deputy Minister of Health Mihai Magdei, the party’s deputy head Natalia Ciobanu, former lawmaker Alexandru Lipcan and Doctor Habilitate of Medical Sciences Valentin Friptu. In the ballot, the PAD is the 17th.
