The representatives of the “Pacifists Without Borders” Association are accusing the staff of the military centers and the members of the conscription commissions of violating the rights of the persons who have reached the age of conscription for military service, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The chairman of the Association, Anatolie Gutu, has told a news conference on Tuesday, April 22, that some young men are declared physically and mentally fit for conscription in the absence of the results of the medical exams and without taking into account their beliefs and values.
The Association’s coordination board claims that only by violating the young men’s freedom of choice can the army fulfill its conscription targets.
Anatolie Gutu revealed the case of a young pacifist, whose file was sent to the Prosecutor’s office because he had opposed conscription. However, charges against him were eventually dropped due to lack of legal grounds.
The “Pacifists Without Borders” Association urges authorities to probe into and put an end to all the violations against conscripts.
