Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is urging political forces in Moldova to put their partisan and personal interests to one side to avoid jeopardizing the people’s European aspirations, IPN reports.

In a statement published today, May 6, Jean-Claude Mignon said: “Some recent votes in the country’s Parliament concerning issues as vital to the operation of democracy as compliance with the constitution, the independence of the judiciary and the electoral system have been conducted in great haste, without any efforts to seek broad consensus within the Parliament ”.

“I urge all political forces in the country to put their partisan and personal interests to one side and work together for the European future of the country and its citizens”, statede the PACE President.

Mignon has added that PACE is willing to facilitate dialogue between the various political parties, “if they so wish”.
