The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the “We Build Europe at Home” Party Constantin Butucel could not vote as it was established that his domicile in the capital city was registered within three months of election day, IPN reports.

“The incompetent persons from the government recently amended the law so as not to allow those who changed the domicile within less than three months to vote. So, they allowed me to register, to run for mayor general, but now the CEC doesn’t allow me to vote for me,” stated the candidate.

Constantin Butucel said that throughout the election campaign, he was subject to pressure. He called on the voters to go and vote in a large number for the party he resents (even if the legislation bans campaigning on election day, e.n.).

Under the Election Code, only the persons whose domicile or temporary residence in the given territorial-administrative unit was registered within more than three months of the first round of voting can vote in elections.
