More than 93,000 lei was collected as part of the fifth campaign “Purpose of Lent” conducted by the NGO “CCF Moldova” (Child, Community, Family Moldova). The money will be used to support 34 mothers who were brought up in the absence of mothers and now cope with difficulty in the role of parents, IPN reports, quoting a press release of CCF Moldova.
During seven weeks, between March 15 and May 2, tens of people fasted purposefully and donated their meals by accessing the biggest virtual restaurant www.rostulpostului.md. A total of 252 donations were made. These contributions will help tens of children to remain near their families. The pandemic didn’t prevent the people from being generous. It united the people for the purpose of improving the lives of children. The largest sum since the campaign was launched was collected this year from individual donations made by people from Moldova and outside it.
“In each settlement, there are families that no longer believe in the good deeds of those who are near them and hope lost meaning for them long ago. Those who supported the campaign “Purpose of Lent” (financially or telling others about this campaign) will persuade tens of families that kindness, warmth and generosity are not only empty words, but also lived deeds. With the help of those who supported the campaign “Purpose of Lent”, we collected over 93,000 lei – the largest sum in the five years of tradition. Those who donated felt that this year, the families with children that face poverty will experience harsher difficulties. We thank all those who contribute to the success of the campaign,” said CCF Moldova president Liliana Rotaru.
During the five-year campaign, the organization collected 515 600 lei.
