More than 90,000 persons changed the family doctor between September and October this year, which is by 5,000 more than in the corresponding period last year. These will be able to benefit from the services of the new doctor as of January 1, 2017, IPN reports.
Among the most often reasons that made the people choose another family doctor were the change of the domicile, access to examinations in the same medical institution, quality of services and attitude of the medical personnel.
The phenomenon of migration to another family doctor or medical institution is more noticeable in urban areas. Thus, 55% of all the applications were submitted by persons from towns and cities, while 45% by persons from rural areas.
According to the register of persons listed at primary medical-sanitary institutions, 36% of the over 90,000 applications were filed by inhabitants of Chisinau municipality
As the previous years, some of the medical-sanitary institutions have registered persons who didn’t actually ask for the family doctor to be replaced. If a person finds out that they are registered with another family doctor of medical institution in the absence of a relevant application, they can ask the National Health Insurance Company, in written form or electronically, to modify the register of persons listed at primary medical-sanitary institutions.
