As the format of the National Wine Day celebrations was modified, the involved economic entities failed to collect over €8 million. The calculations were presented by the Tourism Promotion Federation of Moldova, IPN reports.
According to a communique of the Federation, the winemakers, with small exceptions, were unprepared to receive visitors or tourists. “Castelul Mimi” was the only company that directly took part in the organization and promotion of the event. The company “Asconi”, which won the prize for the best wine producer in 2015, became involved to a lesser extent. The other companies didn’t do much to attract tourists as they considered the National Office of Vine and Wine should do this.
The provided free transport was the only point taken into account following the approaches made by the Tourism Promotion Federation of Moldova, together with another six specialized associations. However, the units of transport didn’t convey many visitors because the people didn’t know about them.
The Wine Festival “Tulburelul” remedied somehow the situation in Chisinau. Organized in a hurry, as its holding was in question up to the last moment, this event brought together all those who wanted to celebrate, but were unable to leave Chisinau.
The exhibitions center “Moldexpo”, where “Tulburelul” was staged, was visited by about 20,000 people, “Castelul Mimi” – by about 1,500, “Asconi – by approximately 500, Orheiul Vechi – by 1,000, while the other wineries altogether – by about 1,500 persons. Compared with last year, when the visitors totaled 130,000, 15,000 of whom were from abroad, the decline is of 81%.
