Some 83% of the wine made in Moldova in 2021 was exported to 71 countries. The wine exported last year came to 120.7 million liters, down 12% on 2020. The data were presented in the National Wine Industry Conference “Wine Year 2021”, IPN reports.
The main export destinations were: Romania (30% up on 2020), Russia (+55%), Poland (+8.6%) Belarus (+12%), the Czech Republic (+15%), China (-8.8%), Ukraine (+6%), the U.S. (+65%).
Even if the wine quantities supplied to Turkey were small, the selling prices there were much higher than in other countries to which Moldovan wine was sold, said Elizaveta Breahna, acting director of the National Office of Vine and Wine.
Wine exports in 2021 were estimated at 2.99 billion lei, up 10% on 2020. The average price of an exported liter of wine grew by 14%.
More than 14 million decaliters of wine were produced in Moldova last year.
