Over 750,000 ballots to be printed for May 20 elections

As many as 752,460 ballots will be printed for the new mayoral elections that will take place in Chisinau and Balti municipalities and five more communities on May 20. Of these, 474,816 are in Romanian, while the rest are in Russian. The largest number of ballots and the longest ballot are in Chisinau.

For the municipality of Chisinau, there were printed 634,547 ballots, 408,080 of whom are in Romanian. Acting head of the Communication Service of the Central Election Commission Corneliu Pasat has told IPN that the ballot is 14 cm in width and 34.4 cm in length and us the longest ballot given that it includes the largest number of candidates. The cost of a ballot for Chisinau is 0.28 lei.

For the municipality of Balti, there are printed 105,275 ballots, 54,398 of which are in the Romanian. The ballot costs 0.24 lei. The ballot for the other five communities costs as much.

The ballots will be distributed to the local councils of the communities as of May 18.

On May 20, new local mayoral elections will take place in seven communities, namely: Chisinau municipality, Balti municipality, Leuseni commune and Nemteni village of Hancesti district, Volovita commune of Soroca district, Jora de Mijloc commune of Orhei district and Parlita commune of Ungheni district.
