Over 7,000 Chisinau children to start primary school this fall

Over 7,000 children in Chisinau municipality will become first graders this autumn. Nina Butucea, department head at the Education Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the children's enrollment in primary schools has already started and will continue until August 31. To enroll children in school, parents or guardians have to submit an application to the respective educational institution, together with a medical certificate and a copy of the child's birth certificate. Children won't need to undergo any exam, except for those who go to specialized schools. The only test will be an interview with the principal, in the presence of a psychologist. Schools will give priority to those children who are domiciled in the respective school's area, who have siblings already studying in that school, or parents working in that school. If candidates are not domiciled in the municipality, they will be accepted if their parents work in Chisinau and can confirm this by producing a certificate. There are around 140 schools in Chisinau.
