Some 18% of those polled believe that after joining the EU, the level of corruption in the Republic of Moldova will decrease. 17.9% expect that the freedom to travel in the EU will increase, while 13.8% that the medical services will improve.

Among the priority reforms for EU accession, 50.6% of the respondents mentioned the fight against corruption, 33.8% – boosting economic development, and 32.6% – accelerating the justice reform.

In terms of information about the EU, 51.1% of those surveyed said that they are well and very well informed, whereas 48.3% said that they are slightly or not at all informed.

The Internet (55.3%) and television (47.3%) are the information resources most frequently used to follow the latest developments related to the EU.

According to Mihai Mogîldea, the survey was aimed at determining how domestic and international developments in recent years affect citizens’ perceptions of European integration, but also to what extent the actions of the national authorities and development partners influence citizens’ perceptions of the role of European integration in the country’s reformation and modernization.

The survey covered a sample of 1,119 people aged 18 and older, with a margin of error of 2.9%. The data were collected between June 28 and July 18.
