Over 60 concerts to be staged as part of Martisor International Festival

Artists from Moldova and abroad will perform at the 58th edition of the Martisor International Music Festival. Throughout March, the festival will bring on stages in Chisinau and in another 43 localities of the country and also in several European cities valuable artistic groups, singers and actors from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Italy, Greece, France.

Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan noted that the festival comes with a new graphic image. Another novelty is related to the geography of the performances that, for the first time, will reach all the districts of the country, but also the diaspora. Also, the audience will enjoy over 60 performances of different music genres with the participation of valuable artistic groups and performers from Moldova, Romania, Italy, Greece, France, the Czech Republic, and Germany.

The festival will traditionally start on March 1, at “Nicolae Sulac” National Palace, with an exceptional show that will bring together famous national singers. Also on March 1, the Chisinau Arena will host the first ever electronic music show titled “Electric Spring”.

The spectators are invited to performances by the National Ballet “Joc”, the Bands “Noroc” and “Trigon”, the Concertino Accordion Band, the Art Studio Group “Repede”, soloists Valentina Nafornița, Dumitru Mîțu, Cătălin Josan, Cristina Scarlat, Lilia Istratii, Anastasia Homitskaya, Eugen Negruța, Martina Meola, Petra Pleșca. All of them will come together under the baton of Mihail Agafiţa, first conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of “Sergey Lunkevich” National Philharmonic, at the festival opening concert.

In Chisinau, there will be staged the folk show “From Iasi to Chisinau”, with the participation of “Mugurel” Orchestra and “Constantin Arvinte” Orchestra from Iasi, and a concert titled “55 years since the founding of “Folclor” Orchestra. The National Palace will also host some extraordinary performances by the Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii” together with Alex Calancea Band, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici Band and Valy Boghean Band, a recital by SMILEY and another recital with the participation of THE URS, Emma and Alina Eremia.

The Palace of the Republic will host a number of performances of classical music, including the concert “Strings of Soul”, a vocal recital with several soloists and the Lyrical Gala “Vivat, Verdi”, with the Academic Choral Chapel “Doina” and the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic.

On March 10, at the National Palace, the Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances “Fluieraș” will close the festival with a concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of conductor Sergei Lunkevich.

The budget for the festival amounts to 5 million lei.
