Over 5m lei to be spent on combatants’ medals

The Government Wednesday decided to institute a medal that will be given to participants in the military conflict on the Nistru on the occasion of the anniversary of 20 years of the war, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The commemorative cross of the armed conflict for defending Moldova’s integrity and independence of 1991-1992” will be awarded to about 28,000 persons. The medals will be made at a cost of 5.3 million lei. Prime Minister Vlad Filat asked that the medal be named this way as, according to him, the armed conflict on the Nistru cannot be commemorated.
