Two men aged 26 and 28 were arrested on suspicion that they stole more than 500,000 lei from an automated teller machine in Cupcini town of Edinet district. The police were informed by the guard of the local home of culture, where the ATM was located, IPN reports.
The man told the police that three individuals with balaclavas speaking Russians broke into the home of culture through the back door and maltreated him. Afterward, they cut the ATM with an iron cutting machine and stole the money that was inside.
The police arrested two suspects. One is from Ocnita district, while the other one is from Slobozia district. They both were earlier convicted. They face 8 to 15 years in jail for robbery. The investigation goes on to identify the third accomplice.
