Over 50 thousand books, with up to 80% discounts on the cover price, will be exhibited at the international Book Festival, which will take place from August 28 to September 1 in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The organizers said in a press release that the most important publishers from Romania and the Republic of Moldova would attend this year’s event, aimed to strengthen the cultural dialogue between publishers, authors and Romanian book audiences. Especially since Bookfest overlaps with Romanian Language Day, also celebrated in Chisinau, on August 31.
"For the fourth year in a row, the most important book show room in the Romanian space - Bookfest, arrives in Chisinau, and not accidentally during the holidays that define our national being - Independence Day and " Our language ". This important cultural event will facilitate the access of Bessarabian readers to Romanian new publications, including most recent translations of international bestsellers”, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, Minister of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova says, as quoted in the press release.
"2019 Chisinau Bookfest coincides with the opening, for the first time, of a Romanian bookstore in Chisinau, which shows that culture may represent the basis for much healthier collaboration relationships than many other areas," Grigore Arsene, chairman of Publishers Association from Romania, said. Cărturești bookstore in Chisinau will occupy an area of about 400 square meters, in Malldova shopping center, being the first Cărturești bookstore outside Romania.
The Bookfest will be inaugurated on August 28 at Moldexpo. Afterwards, the show room can be visited daily between 10.00 and 20.00. Entrance will be free both at the Bookfest and at all other events scheduled within its framework.
