More than 5,000 teachers from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Georgia involved students in different educational activities as part of the crossborder project “Online Education Without Borders”. The activities were based on video lessons and interactive materials created for the archive of the Digital Library “Online Education”. The project was the first response reaction of the municipality of Chisinau to the pandemic crisis and was aimed at developing key skills for a successful career in the 21st century, it was noted in an international project summing up conference, the 2022 edition, IPN reports.

The Digital Library “Online Education” was created during the first part of the pandemic period with a limited number of enthusiastic people, teachers, employees of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and of the Chisinau City Hall and with the assistance of parents and students who attended lessons through TV and the Digital Library’s website. Through the agency of this Library, Chisinau became part of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.

Deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich said that by this project, the municipality supported teachers and also children and parents. It indeed offers possibilities of professional development, of exchanging good practices between professionals and of establishing friendship relations between children, students and this is very important. The Library will be further improved.

According to the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, different types of educational stages were connected through the agency of this project. “We developed the idea of creating a module of lessons for Ukrainian children as there are many refugee children from Ukraine in Moldova, who were integrated into the education process here. But it is also our moral duty. I’m glad that all those who became involved in this project showed once again that our teachers can cope with any challenge,” stated the mayor general.

The crossborder project “Online Education Without Borders” was launched by the General Education, Youth and Sport Division and the Chisinau City Hall in October 2020. Currently, the Digital Library contains about 7,700 video lessons in Romanian and Russian for first-twelfth graders.
