The March 22 Governor elections in Gagauzia will be supervised by over 50 international observers accredited by the Central Election Commission.
The Commission’s press officer Rodica Sirbu has told IPN that 53 observers have been accredited so far. These represent the Embassy of Ukraine, the Embassy of Sweden, the Embassy of Turkey, the Embassy of Azerbaijan, the Embassy of the U.S., the Delegation of the European Union and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The Commission is now examining two more applications for accrediting representatives of the UNDP and the representative of a Russian association.
Rodica Sirbu said the accredited observers can take part in all the processes that will take place on the election day. They can also travel to the spot one or two days before the election day to see how the preparations go.
After the elections, the international observers will present reports on election monitoring and on the identified violations.
