The bomb disposal technicians of the National Army in the first quarter of this year disposed of about 50 explosive devices found in the districts of Ștefan Vodă, Criuleni, Căușeni, Cimișlia, Anenii Noi, Hâncești and Ialoveni, IPN reports.
According to senior officer of the Bomb Service, captain Ivan Cornegruța, the bomb disposal technicians of “Codru” Battalion neutralized an aerial bomb that weighted 500 kg. This was found by workers of the sand quarry in Puhăceni village of Anenii Noi district.
In Semionovca village of Ștefan Vodă district, locals found two 122 mm artillery shells on a field near the settlement.
The technicians of the Motorized Infantry Brigade “Ștefan cel Mare” dealt with four explosives, including artillery shells and an F-1 grenade, in Bardar, village of Ialoveni district, Cioara village of Hâncești district, Căușeni town and Sângera town of the municipality of Chisinau.
All the munitions that dated from World War II were transported to units’ training centers for being disposed of in conditions of maximum safety.
Given that the spring agricultural works are underway, the Ministry of Defense warns that unidentified explosive devices can be found in the ground. These should no way be touched, hit or moved. Regardless of their state or length of life, the explosives can be active and can explode. These should be dealt with only by experts in accordance with the safety procedures. The finds should be reported to the local authorities that will call out the bomb squad.
