Over 42,000 citizens of Chisinau voted by 10 a.m.

More than 42,000 inhabitants of Chisinau cast a vote by 10 a.m. This is almost 5.43% of the voting-eligible residents, IPN reports, with reference to the Central Election Commission.

Almost 51% of the electors who voted were women. By age categories, the people aged between 56 and 65 were the most active voters. They represented 25.44%. The people aged between 18 and 25 constituted only 3.21% of those who voted.

In the districts of Chisinau, they voted most activity in Botanica, where over 7,000 persons of voting age cast their ballots. This district is followed by Râșcani, where over 6,000 persons voted. More than 5,000 electors voted in Ciocana, about 4,400 in Buiucani and 3,700 in Centru.

Twenty-seven persons are contending in the mayoral election in the municipality of Chisinau after the Commission for Exceptional Situations annulled the registration of the 28th candidate who represented the Chance Party.

According to the CEC, more than 207,000 voting-eligible persons voted all over Moldova by 10 a.m. This is 7.5% of the voting-age population.

Polls close at 9 p.m.
