More than 4,000 police officers and carabineers will maintain public order all over the country during the Easter holidays. They will patrol recreational places, churches, passenger terminals and national roads, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Daniel Mazepa, specialist at the General Police Inspectorate’s Public Security Division, urged the population not to leave the house unsupervised when the whole family is away. They should either request a neighbor to look after the house or should activate the alarm system as the cases of burglaries and thefts increase in number during holidays. The people are asked not to drink alcoholic beverages in public places and not to leave the children unsupervised when they are in crowded places.

Car owners are requested not to drive under the influence of alcohol and not to leave the vehicles in unauthorized places. Another recommendation is not to leave the units of transport unsupervised and valuable things at sight inside cars. Gun holders are warned to leave the arms in safes at home. Daniel Mazepa noted they usually drink alcohol at holiday meals and it is better to leave the guns in safe places so as to avoid incidents.

The people are urged not to go inebriated to churches on Easter Eve so as not to disrupt public order. By two police officers will be on duty near churches. Daniel Mazepa reminded that it is banned burning old tires on the night before Easter.

According to Pavel Apostol, head of the InfoTrafic service, the number of patrol teams at the exit from Chisinau will be increased, especially on Friday and Saturday. In the afternoon of April 29, when those who left will return to the capital city, the drivers should not speed. Patrol inspectors on these days will work on all the national roads. According to the National Patrol Inspectorate, 13 persons died and over 100 were hurt in road accidents during the Easter holidays last year.

Parking near the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau in the evening of April 27 will be banned. To avoid traffic jams downtown, the drivers are urged to avoid Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd. and Columna St, the sections between the streets Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni and Pushkin.
