Since snow started to fall in the morning of April 20, over 3,000 trees were downed on streets and in yards of apartment buildings. Also, more than 1,000 trees collapsed on the territory of education institutions. The municipal services haven’t yet assessed the situation in parks and other green areas of the city, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, a number of streets and access to yards of apartment buildings and to a part of the suburbs were blocked at noon. The public transport does not run, except for five units of transport on bus route No. 23 and bust route No. 122.
Emergency response teams work to unblock the main arteries and entrances to Chisinau and the streets used by public transport. The municipal services requested business entities to provide specialized equipment to help alleviate the consequences of the tempest. Carabineers and soldiers of the National Army were also involved in snow removal works in Chisinau municipality.
