More than 40 documentary films will be shown this year at the 13th International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” that will take place on May 12-18. This year the event includes a new element – the program of educative films for first-ninth graders “Chronograph Junior”. The organizers aim to attract children to the cinema hall so as to familiarize them with the world of documentary film, IPN reports.
According to a press release of OWH Studio, this year there will be screened films made in Iran, France, Georgia, Israel, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Latvia, Greece and other countries. The 45 documentaries that went through the pre-selection will compete in four categories: Main Section; CadRO Section; Local Productions Section, and the Section “A Like for a Documentary”. Besides these documentaries, there will be shown films outside the competition.
This year’s festival will also include a series of satellite-events for different categories of the public. There will be staged a roundtable meeting entitled “Education by film” that will discuss the importance of education by audiovisual means, especially by documentaries, and a workshop for film chroniclers of Moldova.
Romanian actress Cristina Flutur will give a masterclass in acting. In 2012, this actress won the women’s role award at the Cannes International Film Festival for the role of Alina (“Beyond the hills”). Director Pavel Cuzuioc will speak about the career of films in festivals in another masterclass intended for young Moldovan filmmakers.
The International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” was launched in 2001 and is organized by OWH Studio.
