More than 40 animals were killed in the February 1 fire at a private farm in Geamana village of Anenii Noi district. The farm owner was hospitalized with burns and carbon monoxide positioning.
The owner’s brother Alexandru Marcocian has told IPN that 30 cows and 12 mature pigs perished in the fire. The small pigs couldn’t have been saved either. Their exact number is not known by the owners. The flames destroyed over 1,000 bales of hay.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Chisinau Hospital “Saint Trinity” Alina Siroshenko said the man, who was hospitalized yesterday evening, suffered burns and carbon monoxide positioning. He received medical care and his state of health improved. Now he is in the Toxicology Section.
The animal farm caught fire in the morning of February 1. The firefighters fought to bring the blaze under control for over six hours. The cause of fire is not yet known. Among the examined versions are a short circuit and arson.
