More than 360,000 students all over the country will attend the school year closing festivity today, May 31. Among them are over 64,000 ninth and twelfth graders who will take graduation exams, IPN reports.
According to official data, more than 28,000 students will complete their high school studies, over 6,000 of whom in the municipality of Chisinau. About 36,000 students, over 6,000 of whom from the municipality of Chisinau, will complete the ninth grade.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said the number of secondary school and lyceum graduates over the last few years has decreased significantly.
Anatol Topala, director of the Quality Ensuring Agency, confirmed this fact. He said the number of students who take Baccalaureate exams declines from year to year. In 2012, there were over 29,000 candidates, while this year only 28,000.
The ‘last bell’ will be rung in 1,397 schools of the country.
