The municipality will place more than 3,000 square meters of lawn in the square of the Railway Terminal, where the monument in memory of the victims of Stalinist deportations was put up recently. The lawn will be bought from a Romanian company and from a Moldovan one.

Green Areas Association head Eliferie Haruta has told IPN that 1,500 square meters of lawn will be purchased from a Chisinau firm, while the rest will be bought from Romania. A square meter costs about 120 lei, but the municipality is negotiating a price of about 100 lei. The 1,500 square meters of lawn will be laid at the end of this week.

Eliferie Haruta said the area near the Railway Terminal will be covered only with lawn, without floral arrangements, given the significance of the monument that imposes certain rules. He demanded that the area be monitored by the police after it is laid out so as to prevent cases of theft.

On August 20, 2012, before the visit paid by German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Chisinau, there were stolen over 20 meters of lawn that was laid on Dacia Blvd. that connects Chisinau and the airport.
