Over 300 publishing houses from 18 countries to take part in International Book Fair in Chisinau

More than 300 publishing houses from 18 countries will exhibit books at the third National Book and Reading Festival dedicated to writer Spiridon Vangheli and at the 22nd International Book Fair. The two events will be staged in the square before the head office of the National Library in Chisinau on the occasion of the National Language Day, IPN reports.

The fair includes an exhibition where the visitors will be able to buy books from the 18 countries. Also on August 31, plastic artist Victor Bradu will open his personal painting exhibition “Native Village Vorniceni”. At 17.00, there will be held a creation evening of tenor Mihai Munteanu, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.  A meeting of the literary club “Ideal”, themed “Ode to the Romanian Language”, will take place at 18.00.

A roundtable meeting centering on the current editorial policies, themed “Labirint publishing house – 20 years of work”, will take place at 14.00 on September 1.  The same day, there will be launched the book of writer Gheorghe Cutasevici “Evasion in exile...”. At 16.00, there will be held a public conference titled “Platon and Platonism over time”.

Writer Dan Dobos, director of the Iasi County Library “Gh. Asachi”, will give a conference at 14.00 on September 2. The creation workshop “Graphic illustrators of Spiridon Vangheli’s works” will start at 15.00.

On the last day of the International Book Fair, on September 3 at 15.00, there will be presented the most popular ten books in 2012. There will be held a summing up news conference and the fair’s Laureates Gala. There will be offered such prizes as the Publishing House of the Year, the Book of the Year, etc.

The National Book and Reading Festival that will take place in all the Moldovan settlements that possess a public library will be closed at the National Library in Chisinau on September 10. The laureates of the festival will be awarded prizes.

The national campaign “Book – a Priceless Present” will be carried out during the days of the fair and the festival with the aim of collecting books for the stocks and readers of the national public libraries.
