More than 28,000 private individuals chose to redirect 2% of the income tax for last year to a public association or a religious organization. The validated directed sum exceeds 5.6 million lei and is intended for 393 beneficiaries, IPN reports.
According to the State Tax Service, almost 3,000 transfers weren’t validated mainly because the tax payer didn’t pay the tax on the declared income from which the money was to be transferred or because the beneficiaries indicated in the tax returns weren’t found in the State Tax Service’s information system or in the Register of Beneficiaries approved by the Ministry of Justice.
The validated amounts were transferred by the Ministry of Finance to beneficiaries on September 18 this year.
Last month, 163 noncommercial organizations filed applications to be put on the list of beneficiaries of transfers from paid income taxes. After the applications are examined by the end of October, the list of 2% beneficiaries for the next year will be published on the website of the Ministry of Justice. Currently, the list includes 594 public and religious organizations.
