Over 2700 pupils from Chisinau are not in classrooms

After the first four days of the new study year, 2754 pupils are still missing from classrooms. According to the deputy head of the General Department of Education, Science, Youth and Sports (GDESYS), Zinaida Popescu, it is not yet the case to speak about more pupils quitting school, as many of these children have not returned from the summer vacation, others’ absence is motivated by various factors. As the situation stands on September 4, 864 pupils have not yet showed up to lessons due to illnesses. According to the same source, the daily attendance information is daily monitored by GDESYS through the regional departments, and every single case is analyzed and managed so that the amount of nonattendance is decreased. The phenomenon of school nonappearance can be evaluated stating September 15. 93.535 pupils attend 156 pre-higher institutions from Chisinau.
