The Moldovans eligible to vote will today elect the legislative body that will work during the next four years, Info-Prim Neo reports. The main lists include 2,651,564 persons. The Central Election Commission has opened 2,037 polling places. Seventy-five of them were established abroad. The Moldovans can exercise their right to vote, guaranteed by the Constitution, using the identity card, the Soviet-type passport or Form No. 9, which is a temporary identity card. The Moldovans who are abroad will vote with the passport. The Transnistrians can vote at three polling places opened in the municipality of Chisinau and at another 18 polling places set up on the right bank of the Nistru. As many as 2,809,617 ballots have been printed for the early legislative elections. Of them, 2,112,582 are in Romanian, while 697,035 in Russian. The persons with visual impairments vote with the help of a third person. A polling place was set up in the municipality of Chisinau that will implement a new voting procedure for blind persons, using special ballots. The students can vote at the polling place situated in the settlement where they live or where they study. They must present not only the identity card, but also the student’s card, and fill out an own responsibility statement pledging not to vote at other polling places repeatedly. This is the second time that the voters in Moldova elect Parliament. The early elections follow two failed attempts by the legislative body to elect the head of state.
