More than 2,500 students from four schools in Moldova will be able to learn the professions of the future in digital laboratories, equipped with high-performance equipment. It will be procured through the UNDP project “Accelerating digital transformation in the public sector in the Republic of Moldova”, to which the Government of Romania has allocated in 2021 over €80,000, through RoAid – Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation. The donation of equipment is to be made in the autumn of 2022 to four educational institutions, IPN reports.

These institutions join the “Tekwill in every school” network, which includes 35 digital labs, where students learn web and mobile application development, graphic design, programming, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and more.

“With Digital Literacy at the heart of Digital Transformation, we at UNDP are particularly proud of our partnership with the Tekwill in Every School Program. Thanks to the collaboration and generosity of the Government of Romania, we have been able to equip four more Moldovan schools with Digital Labs, modern spaces with high-performing computers and laptops where students can learn the professions of the future and create innovative projects,” said Dima Al-Khatib, UNDP Resident Representative to the Republic of Moldova.

Mihai Sandu, Deputy General Director of RoAid, said that in an ever-expanding world, we should not allow to lag behind progress. “Digitalization, access to all what digital transformation entails, and, above all, education and skills development in this field are essential steps that do not only offer opportunities to young people but contribute to the fight against online vulnerabilities. We are honored to be able to contribute to all these in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Mihai Sandu.

The development partners that support the “Tekwill in every school” network are Sweden, the European Union, USAID, UNDP and the Government of Romania.
