Over 250 Moldovan enterprises can not be privatised

A number of 253 enterprises were declared as ineligible for privatisation and listed in the bill on administering and denationalising public property that passed the second reading in Parliament on Friday May 4. “FranzeluTa” JSC, RED-Nord, RED-Nord-Vest, CET-Nord, CET 1 and CET 2 in Chisinau, “Moldova-Gaz” JSC, Exposition Centre “Moldexpo”, Winery “Cricova”, JSC “Termocom”, JSC “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, “Moldova Railway”, “Air-Moldova” Company etc. are ranging among the respective enterprises. The list also includes theatres, state-run forestry enterprises, raion hospitals etc. MP Valeriu Cosarciuc proposed to exclude from the list certain enterprises such as the REDs (Power Distribution Stations), “Termocom” etc., which, as he says, require economically unjustified subsidies from the state. But the proposal was rejected by the majority of MPs. According to the bill, the list of ‘unprivatisable’ enterprises can be modified, if necessary.
