Over 230m lei spent on preparing preschool and pre-university institutions for new school year

More than 140 million lei have been allocated for preparing the pre-university education institutions for the new school year. An additional 92.6 million lei went to repair the kindergartens. The money was allotted from the state and local budgets, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At a meeting, Minister of Education and Youth Larisa Savga said that 1,190 rural schools have been provided with teaching equipment worth about 19 million lei during the last school year until present.
Also, 33 kindergartens and 15 community centers have been reconstructed and supplied with teaching aids and furniture. Over 955 of the 1,554 pre-university institutions are almost ready for the new school year.
According to the Minister of Local Public Administration Valentin Guznac, over 900 schools and 70% of the preschool institutions have been repaired in the first half of this year.
The authorities promise that all the pre-university education institutions will be provided with the necessary textbooks, except certain texts for eleventh graders.
A part of the worn-out textbooks will be replaced. In addition, there will be printed 17 textbook titles for the first-fourth grades and 19 textbook titles for the fifth-ninth grades, Larisa Savga said.
The number of kindergartens that will be repaired and provided with teaching aids will be extended.
According to official statistics, 1,334 kindergartens work in Moldova at present. The average capacity utilization rate in the country’s kindergartens is 65%.
