More than 200 students from six districts didn’t go to classes on February 27. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research said that owing to the snowy roads and following the malfunctioning of three buses, eight school routes in the districts of Cahul, Cantemir, Hancesti, Orhei, Taraclia and Ungheni were suspended, IPN reports.
In some cases, the students were taken to school by other units of transport or by the parents. The school buses that broke down are being repaired.
Weather forecasters issued a yellow code warning for the period between February 25 and March 1. Owing to the penetration of an arctic air mass, temperatures will decrease to -19°C. The average temperature will be by 10-12°C lower than the norm for this period. There will be snow.
