Over 1,900 children will have access to early education within a project

As many as 39 kindergartens from rural areas will be repaired and outfitted with teaching aids within the project “Global Partnership for Education” that is implemented by the Ministry of Education. The project aims to promote social partnership in support of early education for all the children from Moldova and equitable access to education.

In a news conference at IPN, Deputy Minister of Eductaion Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei said that early education of a high quality means trained educators, involved parents, repaired kindergartens outfitted with everything the children need since early childhood. Early childhood offers the children a better start in life. The launched project aims to improve access to early education for all the children with special needs who are in risky situations. Early education services of a high quality will be ensured by training teachers and managers of pre-school education institutions and by actively involving parents in this process.

Deputy Minister of Education underlined that a number of things will be done for the children’s benefit. There will be created 130 mentor’s centers for educators, while 950 preschool education schools will be outfitted with teaching aids and books for children. As many as 38 rural kindergartens and a community center for children with special needs in Ceadir Lunga will be renovated and equipped. The institutions will offer access to early education for 1,966 children.

A number of 1,435 community teams consisting of teachers, parent and social assistants who work with parents will take part in a program of training in inclusive education, based on a guidebook on inclusion that will be worked out within the project.

In the same news conference, Mayor of Mereni village of Anenii Noi district Eugen Salcutan said that within the project the settlements will be provided with a new kindergarten with a capacity of 130 places. The problem of access to early education will be thus solved. The works to renovate the institution will start on January 1, 2014.

The project “Global Partnership for Education” is implemented by the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the World Bank and UNICEF.
