Over 182m lei from medical and social insurance budgets allocated to Transnistrian beneficiaries

Residents of the eastern districts of the country received over 182 million lei from budgetary resources in 2023 as health insurance and social assistance, IPN reports, with reference to the Government.

A sum of 77.64 million lei was paid from the mandatory health insurance funds for about 4,680 cases treated in hospitals contracted by the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) and whose beneficiaries were persons residing in the Transnistrian region.

At the same time, over 23,000 people, citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region, were put on the lists of family doctors from medical and sanitary institutions providing primary health care within the mandatory health insurance system and CNAM paid 19 million lei for them. Of these, more than 8,600 people (37.5%) were uninsured.

Also, over 2,900 people residing in the Transnistrian region in 2023 benefited from old-age, disability and survivors’ pensions, social allowances, allowances paid through the public social insurance system, in the total amount of 85.5 million lei.

In 2023, compared to 2018, the number of people who received pensions, allowances and other categories of payments increased from about 1,300 to over 2,900 people (+124.9%), while the amounts paid grew from 30 million lei to 85.4 million lei (+184.7%). In total, the amounts paid for the respective categories of persons over the last five years came to 330.23 million lei.
