More than 1,600 children from Ukrainian refugee families have been integrated into the education system of the Republic of Moldova. About 500 of them attend kindergartens, while 1,150 go to primary and secondary schools and lyceums teaching in Romanian and Russian, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, over 600 Ukrainian refugee children attend primary schools, about 500 – secondary schools, while 46 – lyceums. Together they go to 206 education institutions in Moldova.

Of all the students enrolled in general education institutions, 119 study in Romanian, while 1,031 study in Russian.

The Republic of Moldova offers opportunities to all the children from Ukrainian refugee families so that they could be reintegrated into schools and kindergartens.
At general education institutions, the children are registered based on an application submitted by the parent or by the legal representative to the local education division or education institution.

Children from families that asked for asylum can enroll at school following the recognition and equalizing of the periods of studies. The second option is for the Ukrainian minors to attend courses alongside the other children as audients. This option is open to all the Ukrainians citizens who are in Moldova.

Also, the Ukrainian children can take part in different extracurricular activities staged inside primary and secondary education institutions or can attend extra-academic education intuitions. They can also attend online lessons organized by education institutions where they studied in Ukraine and access education platforms and resources created and coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

An information directory “In support of children and young people of Ukraine” is available on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova. This is updated daily and is designed to contribute to the education inclusion of Ukrainian refugee children.
