More than 15,000 children will be able to rest for ten days in summer camps this year. A ticket to a summer camp costs 1,000 lei on average. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga Friday said the summer season opens on June 14 and closes on August 28, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The 29 summer camps situated in 17 districts, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the municipalities of Balti and Chisinau were selected by tender contest. The Labor Ministry examined only the offers with four meals a day and educative-recreational and sports programs that will include at least a trip during the ten-day stay, film screenings, evening dancing parties. A special commission assessed the preparedness level of the camps ten days before the start of the summer season.
Under a Government decision, 55% of the tickets will be allocated to social assistance and child rights protection divisions for being distributed free to orphans, children from one-parent families, families with many children and on low incomes, children under tutelage, from family type children’s homes and temporary placemen centers, from families where both of the parents are disabled, and to other unprivileged groups.
The other 45% of the tickets will be distributed by the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova to children whose parents are salary-earners.
As the previous year, the Government of Romania earmarked 80 places in Romanian summer camps for students from deprived Moldovan families.
A sum of 17.9 million lei was allocated from the state budget for purchasing tickets to summer camps for the 2011 season.
