More than 1,300 students admitted to state universities on a contract basis obtained budget-funded places because they achieved remarkable results during the 2015-2016 academic year. According to the Ministry of Education, most of these students study at the Technical University and the State University.

The beneficiaries are students of the 14 higher education establishments that stage the contest. “The students who obtained a high average grade, performed scientific and research activities or achieved special results at sports competitions were able to keep or to obtain a budget-funded place. The budget-funded places for orphans, students who remained without parental care and persons with severe and accentuated disabilities weren’t put up for contest,” said Nadejda Velishko, head of the Ministry’s Higher Education and Science Development Division.

Over 2,400 first and second-year students studying on a contract basis could apply for 4,950 and, respectively, 5,013 budget-funded places. As a result of the contest, more than 1,300 students of these obtained budget-funded places.
