Over 1,200 children in Causeni and Rascani districts will go to school by bus

More than 1,200 children in the districts of Causeni and Rascani will go to 11 district schools by ten new buses provided within the Quality Education in the Rural Areas Project that is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Education, Info-Prim Neo reports. On August 24, the ten minibuses were handed over to the administrations of Causeni and Rascani districts. During the event, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said more buses will be distributed to other districts in the future. He also said that a number of roads in the two districts will be repaired. Minister of Education Leonid Bujor said the eleven schools will be supplied with the necessary equipment, furniture and textbooks, including 22 new titles. He announced that during September 15-20, the Government will provide another 15 buses for 15 districts. World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Melanie Marlett said education is a top priority for the Government of Moldova. “The buses are of a high quality. The children will like them because they are yellow – the color of sun,” she said. Ecaterina Serbushko from Farladenii Noi, one of the students who will go to school by bus, said they were by three children in one class in their village and she is very glad that she will attend a new school, where she will be able to make new friends. The district schools are situated 3-10 km from the native village of the students.
