This year over 112,000 children will enjoy rest in summer camps. Like in previous years, up to 25% of places will be allocated for free to children from underprivileged groups, and the rest of the tickets will be put up for sale for 10-20% of their actual cost, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Education Minister Tatiana Poting told a meeting on Friday that this year there will work 84 sleep-away summer camps, which will serve a total of 96,000 children aged 7 to 16, and 360 day camps, for an additional 16,338 children. The final list of the camps will be determined later this month.
The camp season will start on June 3 and will end on August 28, comprising up to 7 shifts. Over 4,000 personnel, including teachers and interns, will work in the camps.
Social Protection Minister Valentina Buliga said that 19.4 million lei was allocated for this camp season. Like in previous years, up to 25% of the tickets will be offered for free to orphan children, to children from single-parent families, from poor families and families with many children. Priority will also be given to children under guardianship, children placed in foster homes or temporary centers, children whose both parents are disabled or are pensioners. Children with academic achievements will be favored as well.
Throughout the season, district and municipal authorities will constantly and rigorously monitor the conditions and quality of services in camps.
In the 2011 season, there were opened 82 sleep-away camps that served 72,000 children, and 232 day camps for over 12,000 children.
