The Group of the European Youth for Change (GEYC) of Romania has launched the Strategic Cooperation Program “Support Moldova” (2016-2018) that is aimed at supporting Moldova’s European course by developing competences within three target groups: young people, NGOs and public authorities, IPN reports.

According to the members of the group, the Strategic Cooperation Program “Support Moldova” matches the objectives of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement, precedes the presidency of the Council of the European Union that is to be held by Romania in 2019, is in line with Romania’s Development Cooperation Program (2012-2016), especially as regards transition to democracy and education, and integrates with the strategy of PRISMA European Network.

The program is implemented between August 31, 2016 and December 31, 2018 and can be found on social networking sites by accessing #SupportMoldova.

The program’s target groups are the young people of Romania and Moldova, especially those aged between 18 and 25 with reduced opportunities; nongovernmental organizations of Romania and Moldova, in particular the youth ones and those whose mission is to strengthen the rule of law; local and central public authorities of Romania and Moldova, especially those that work directly with young people or whose activities refer directly to these.

Among the goals are to inform 1,000 Moldovan young people about the personal and professional development opportunities from which they can benefit if they belong to the GEYC Community, to form 200 Moldovan young people so as to ensure greater competitiveness on the European labor market and increase their level of participation in community life, and to empower 50 Moldovan NGOs by providing assistance and exchanging goods practices.

Also, 100 young people, who represent NGOs and public authorities of Moldova, will be engaged in the mobility programs implemented in the EU and in other member states of the Council of Europe.
