Over 1,000 hectares of crops damaged by rain

More than 1,000 hectares of crops were affected by the rain that fell in the evening of August 6. Ten districts sustained damage, namely Floresti, Causeni, Hancesti, Ocnita, Cimislia, Orhei, Soroca, Criuleni, Ungheni, and Telenesti, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, there were damaged 549 hectares of sunflower, 526 hectares of corn, 255 hectares of sugar beet, 204 hectares of orchards, 140 hectares of vineyards, 25 hectares of soybean and 4 hectares of vegetables.

The roof of the Institute of Phytotechny “Porumbeni” of Criuleni district was destroyed, while a 1.1 km portion of local road in Hancesti was flooded and covered in mud. The local commissions for emergencies are assessing the damage caused by the rain.
