Premier Energy Distribution managed to reconnect all consumers affected by the recent bad weather, while 1,328 consumers in Rezina district are to be reconnected immediately after RED-Nord modifies the supply scheme. The Ministry of Energy said that on sections to the five localities, there are multiple conductor ruptures and damaged pillars. Last night, 1,251 consumers in the northern region were reconnected to the grid, IPN reports.

Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov visited the localities that were most affected by the severe weather in Orhei district. The official inspected the impact of ice and strong winds on electricity networks and discussed with officials of the distribution system operator systemic solutions to reduce the time of reconnection of consumers in case of accidents caused by the elements.

“I felt on my skin what temperatures of minus 14°C mean in the open field. I’m extremely grateful to the specialists who, these days, in the cold and wind, have worked for all consumers to benefit from electricity and heat - things to which we got used without thinking about how they get into our homes,” said the minister.

In total, about 80,000 consumers remained without electricity as a result of the consequences caused by the cyclone of the past few days. Due to glazed frost and ice that appeared on overhead power lines and trees, but also to low temperatures, a number of areas in the country are still at risk of being affected by conductor breaks.
