About 40 homemade wine producers who took part in the “Golden Barrel” contest will exhibit for tasting over 100 homemade wines at the festival with the same name that will take place in Raciula, Calarasi on April 25. Besides wine tasting, the festival will include performances by folkloric ensembles from the central districts of the country, gastronomic theater activities, gastronomic contests between housewives and recreational contests to assemble and roll barrels, IPN reports.
Valeriu Lazar, chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry that organizes the event, told a news conference that the winners of the contest “2015 Golden Barrel” will be awarded within the festival. The contest has been held for 12 years and the winners are selected by a professional jury. The consumers will also be able to vote for the preferred wine using special tickets incorporated in the festival tickets.
Both the visitors and the wine producers will be able to take part free in two masterclasses in homemade wine making organized by the National Ofice of Wine and Vine and the Association of Small Wine Producers of Moldova. There will also be staged a mini-exhibition of equipment for making wine.
The fair of craftsmen from the central districts of Calarasi, Ungheni and Nisporeni will include masterclasses in pottery, osier weaving and cooperage. During the day, tour operators will provide tours to the four monasteries located several kilometers from Raciula, namely Raciula, Frumoasa, Harjauca, and Harbovat, and to the pensions “Honey house” or “Parental house”.
The “Golden Barrel” Festival is staged for the first time. The visitors will have access to the event based on tickets that can be bought at Iticket.md. The tickets of 20 lei will allow travelling through the territory where the festival will take place, while the tickets of 100 lei will enable to take part in all the events of the festival and in five tasting events. There will also be separate tickets for additional tasting events.
