The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has announced that it started paying out money owed in compensation to the owners of apple and plum orchards who suffered losses following the Russian ban imposed since 2014 on Moldovan exports, IPN.
In particular, yesterday the Ministry transferred a total of 10.57 million lei to 30 beneficiaries. The money was allocated from the subvention fund, which this year is 900 million lei.
The beneficiaries are companies that own apple and plum orchards covering 15 hectares or larger. On August 11, the Ministry's Intervention Agency ordered the State Treasury to pay 43 million lei to satisfy 109 applications for compensation money.
