More than 1 000 policemen will maintain public order on Chisinau’s Day that is marked on October 14. The largest number of police officers will be concentrated in the Great National Assembly Square, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on October 12, Municipal Police chief Silviu Musuc said that no protection fence will be set up in the central square of Chisinau this year. There will be a police cordon from Banulescu-Bodoni St until Pushkin St that will form ten filter-entrances to the stage.
Those who will come to the concert will be checked with metal detectors. The persons holding dangerous objects or firearms will not be allowed to pass even if they have permits for carrying guns.
Silviu Musuc also said that the sale of alcoholic drinks in the central square will be banned, except for wine sold in plastic bottles.
The minors are not allowed to stay late without grownups’ supervision. Those caught by the police in the street or other public places will be taken to the Placement Center of the General Police Commissariat. The drivers caught under the influence will be penalized severely, said Silviu Musuc.
Two firefighting vehicles, three ambulances, a bomb squad and several teams of the Special Police Brigade “Scut” will be on guard in the square during the day.
Over 60,000 persons celebrated the City’s Day in central Chisinau last year.
