The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe reaffirmed the necessity of completely withdrawing the foreign armed forces from Moldova’s territory and of transforming the current peacekeeping mission into an internationally mandated civil one. An amendment to this effect was included in the resolution of the annual session of the OSCE PA that is taking place at the Bundestag of Germany during July 7-11, IPN reports.

According to the Moldovan Parliament’s press service, the meeting debated 25 amendments proposed to the text of the resolution by the delegates of the 57 participating states.

Two amendments were proposed by the Moldovan delegation and one amendment was suggested by the delegation of the Parliament of Romania. These were all accepted by a majority of votes. The Moldovan delegation’s amendments were approved by the common effort of the parliamentary delegations of Moldova, Romania, the United States, the UK, Georgia, and Lithuania.

The delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to the OSCE PA is led by the Democratic MP Sergiu Sirbu. The MP said that by supporting the amendments, the organization reaffirmed its complete support for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict by observing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.
